Summer Reading

Three Months of Reading, Fun, and Sun!

Our Summer Reading program is back and better than ever! Readers of ALL AGES are invited to participate in the sunniest reading challenge in town. Registration for the Library’s Summer Reading Challenge begins June 1, and the 3 months of reading, logging, and prizes wraps up August 31. With paper and digital reading log options this summer, you'll be able to keep track of your reading in a way that works best for you and your family. Stop by the Library to learn more.

Digital Reading Log

Gone are the days of stacks of paper, checking off boxes, and forgetting your log at home. Natrona County Library’s Summer Reading Challenge has a virtual option using Beanstack, thanks to a generous grant from the Natrona County Recreation Joint Powers Board. Beanstack is like a “Fitbit for Reading,” where users track reading and earn virtual badges (and prizes!) along the way. You can log on to Beanstack from the Library’s website or by downloading the mobile app. Register from the comfort of your own home, or wherever you are, at a time that works best for you. Readers can create individual accounts and better yet, families (or daycares/groups) can create one main account and then add all the readers in their group. Each reader then joins the Summer Reading Challenge that fits their age or grade level.

Kids & Teens

Many of our fun Summer Reading events and performers are back on the calendar, so be sure to check out all the awesome summer fun programming this summer. For kids in kindergarten through sixth grade, we’re taking our log up a notch… be sure to grab one of our awesome new badge books for even more fun reading challenges and activities.

The goal this year, as in year’s past, is to read at least 20 minutes per day. Every 25 days of reading earns a (real) prize. Books, eBooks, audiobooks, magazines… it all counts! Plus, if you read for 75 days, you will automatically be entered into a grand prize drawing.

Prizes

Prizes for kids (age 0 – rising grade 6) include books, coupons, and other fun items. Teen (rising grades 7-12) prizes include reading lights, books, and coupons. For both age groups, everyone who completes all 75 days of reading will be entered into a grand prize drawing for one of several $50 gift cards.

Adults

For our readers aged 18+, there’s never a better time to mark off your to-read list than in the summer when the days are long, the temps are high, and you’re able to win prizes at the Library for consistent reading.

Every 25 days of reading unlocks a prize that you can come pick up at the Library. Month 1 is a Library mug. Month 2 is a book of your choice (all genres and interests will be represented in the newish-release selection). Month 3 is a surprise! The grand prize drawings will be for local gift cards.
